Prepare for Webex Court Appearance

Elkhart County Courts may provide hearings remotely via Webex, a video conferencing platform that allows court participants to appear at scheduled hearings that do not typically involve a trial. You may use a cell phone (by calling in) or you can appear by video conference with a mobile device or computer that has a built-in camera and microphone.

By Phone

  1. You will receive a notice from our office or the court that contains the phone number to call for the hearing and a “meeting number” or “access code.”

  2. Find a reasonably quiet place, preferably without loud background noise. DO NOT USE A SPEAKER PHONE (this creates feedback). Make sure your phone is fully charged or plugged in.

  3. Call the number sent to you just before the scheduled time of your hearing.

  4. Wait for a prompt that will ask for the meeting number or access code. Enter the number.

  5. You will instantly be connected to the courtroom. PLEASE MUTE YOUR PHONE. You will be able to hear cases being presented, but others will not hear you.

  6. When your case is ready to be heard by the judge, someone will call out your name and ask you to unmute your phone. Unmute your phone at this time and say your name.

By Video/Computer

*If this will be your first time using Webex, we recommend connecting to the website 15-20 minutes before your hearing to familiarize yourself with the website and procedure.
